Configure File Server with Server 2012 Step by Step

Log on to the Server 2012 server and click Add role and features on Server Manager Dashboard.

Click Next

Click Next

Select the server from the pool.

Choose File server roles from the File And Storage Services.

Skip feature window and install.

You can open File Server Resource Manager from the Start Menu.

Lets create a Quota template.

Make a copy from default template and edit as your requirement.

Now create a Folder and share it with below permissions.

Share name: Share$ (You can hide the share using the dollar sign ($) at the end of the share name)

Administrators: Full Control
System: Full Control
Authenticated Users: Full Control

And set the Security settings as follow.

Now create a Quota using File Server Resource Manager.

To Map the share drive to users open Active Directory Users and Computers and select user/user (s), right click and go to Properties.

Go to Profile tab. On Home folder settings select Connect. Select a drive and in To: enter \\<FileServer FQDN>\Share$\%username%

Mapped drive will show as follow.
