Restore Job in Exchange 2010 CAS Array Environment

You will get following error while restoring email to Exchange mailbox in deployed CAS Array environment.

The job failed with the following error: The Backup Exec server could not connect to the remote computer. Ensure that a Backup Exec agent is installed and running on the remote computer. If a Backup Exec agent is installed, ensure that it is the correct version.

V-79-57344-3844 – The Backup Exec server was unable to connect to the Remote Agent on machine outlook.doitfixit.local.
Remote Agent not detected on outlook.doitfixit.local.

Final error: 0x0000f04 – The Backup Exec server could not connect to the remote computer. Ensure that a Backup Exec agent is installed and running on the remote computer. If a Backup Exec agent is installed, ensure that is the correct version.
Final error category: Resource Errors

Restore-Outlook.doitfixit.local
Remote Agent not detected on outlook.doitfixit.local

Cause
The Backup Exec Server unable to find the Backup Exec agent in the Microsoft Exchange Server.

Resolution
In my above environment outlook.doitfixit.local is the my Client Access Array name. And I am adding a host record in my Backup Exec Server that pointing CAS Array name to Exchange Server IP.

192.168.1.102 outlook.doitfixit.local

(192.168.1.102 is one of my Exchange server IP which installed Backup Exec remove agent)

Restore Job in Exchange 2010 Database Availability Group Environment


Resolution
In my above environment outlook.doitfixit.local is the my Client Access Array name. And I am adding a host record in my Backup Exec Server that pointing CAS Array name to Exchange Database Availability Group (DAG) IP.

192.168.1.120 outlook.doitfixit.local

(192.168.1.120 is my Exchange 2010 DAG IP)

To get Database Availability Group IP run below command. And check the value of DatabaseAvailabilityGroupIpv4Addresses.

Get-DatabaseAvailabilityGroup | FL
